Meeting Your Needs: Beyond IMT
While my sweet spot, ideal client, is persons dealing with painful, chronic conditions, and not satisfied with typical approaches, my practice continues to offer a full range of treatment other than Integrated Manual Therapy
SWEDISH MASSAGE:
Uses gentle stroking and other soft tissue manipulations to reduce muscle tightness, improve circulation and nutrition to tissues, it also has the effect of triggering the body’s Relaxation Response. That is, it triggers the body out of the ‘Flight or Fight’ mode and encourages the ‘Rest and Digest’ part of the nervous system to take over. Thus creating the sense of Deep Relaxation, and general well being. It also reverses or relieves the physical effects of Stress. It has been shown to: Reduce Blood Pressure; Slow and Deepen Breathing; Reduce blood cortisol (the stress hormone), and increase oxygen delivery to cells. Unfortunately, massage cannot reduce stress, but is a great tool for managing stress.

Sports and Performance Massage:
Applies techniques from both Swedish and Medical Massage to support performers on filed, court, or stage. Can be used during event preparation, general training/maintenance period’s as well as immediately before and after an event. Some clients have noted reduced injuries, faster recovery, and enhanced performance as a result of regular Sports Massage. Whether you are an amateur, Weekend Warrior or serious athlete Or stage performer, you’ll see significant benefits.
Mother Massage, Prenatal, Birthing Year Massage
Designed to support mother and child through the birthing year’s many changes, from first trimester through postpartum. I employ a variety of techniques to help manage such issues as low back pain, postural changes, swollen ankles and legs, and more. Special supports, including side lying treatment, extra pillows/bolsters, and use of a massage chair for those who cannot lie in any posture on the treatment table, are also available.

Coaching
Since client wellness is always a goal, coaching sessions are offered as support in reaching your goals in a variety of areas:
Stress Management
Sessions start with clarifying your goals, discovering your personal stressors, what activities or habits serve to de-stress you, and setting an action plan for stress management. Periodic follow up can support progress, make adjustments to plans, etc.
Nutrition
In today’s food system, nobody gets all the nutrients they need, unless, possibly, you grow your own. Coaching might begin with a nutrition assessment using an online tool, and recommending a diet plan or supplements to add in deficient nutrients. My training in this area is based on the work of Dr. Forrest Shaklee, developer of the first multivitamin.
General Wellness
There are any number of factors that contribute to wellness, depending on who you ask. If you have a particular concern, coaching and possibly referrals are also available.
